One of the problems Muhammed had with the Eastern Orthodox faith was their reverence of icons, which he considered idolatry. Therefore, he forbade his followers from making any portraits or images of him. Unlike Christians, who believe that Jesus was the physical incarnation of God, Muhammed insisted that he was only “the messenger,” and tried to avoid the cult of personality.
I’m not trying to justify this. I’m simply trying to explain why Muslims consider rendering an image of the Prophet to be blasphemy.
And, by the way, I still recommend Salman Rushdie’s “The Satanic Verses” to anyone.

Two ironies: (1) If the reason for Mohammed’s ban is his opposition to idolatry, but the spirit in which people issue and follow fatwahs is idolatrous.

(2) Their reward for killing Sachiko? They get to spend a great time in heaven with 14 virgin Sachikos. THere something wrong there.

The original Facebook page for this campaign seems to have been removed, though there is an alternative. This kind of censorship speaks volumes about those who are prepared to bend over backwards to pacify religious hardliners.

@Sachiko – Well, of course, I agree with you, but unfortunately some countries do not recognize the separation of church (or faith) and state. As we all know, censorship of free speech is a problem even in those countries which do recognize it… such as the United States for example. During the run-up to the Iraq war, when the Bushies forced the Senate cafeteria to remove “French fries” from the menu and substitute them with “Freedom fries,” a father and son were arrested at a shopping mall in New York state for “disturbing the peace” and “inciting a riot,” all because they happened to be wearing T-shirts with John Lennon’s image and the logo “Give Peace a Chance.”
The problem here is: how do we open the hearts and minds of those who feel intolerance is justified?

Infidels! I am issuing a fatwa. We shall declare jihad against you. Our enemy is the internet. Therefore, we shall tie explosives around ourselves and detonate in front of our computers, thereby blowing your blasphemous words to hell. Our reward will be unlimited internet access to porn while in heaven. We shall each have 14 virtual virgins!!

May Allah save all Muslims from Sachiko and the evil and deceit of her so-called infidel blog. This woman is a heretic, or she was inclined to unbelief from Islamic law in some aspect. If she repents before she is arrested, and turns away from her misguided views, and there are clear signs of repentance from her, then she should not be killed. Otherwise, it is obligatory to kill her for the sake of the faith.

It is 72 virgins, and one Sachiko would be more than enough for any man.

DId you know that in Islam, it’s a sin for a woman to show her any part of her body except her palms, feet, and face. Showing any other part of the body is considered to be naked or awrah ( go to wikipedia). Should we respect this?
