George Carlin On Religion

After the last two very serious posts, I thought it might be a good idea to post a more humorous perspective on religion, from the late, great George Carlin. Sad part is though, everything he says is absolutely true… :-) A very big thankyou to Kid A for bringing this brilliant video to my attention!

A classic. It appears that Mr. Carlin’s frisbee is stuck on the roof now…. (that is from an earlier comedy show, about Frisbeetarians).

Anyways, what he says is true (and funny), especially with the Megachurches and the Televangelists.

It is always amazing how much of YOUR money, God really needs.

Oh, and I think Mr. Carlin was a little low on his Billions & Billions per year comment. If you take all religions combined, the totals worldwide do exceed 1 Trillion in untaxed income per year. (About 3% of annual world wide monetary transactions).

I thought you couldn’t buy love anyway, but a love affair with religion seems kind of expensive.

You are welcome my friend. There are only a few folks that I share these with and you always seem to enjoy them. I will see if I can dig up some new ones for you to view and will send via email. It is true, God does really need your money. All churches promote this. I always wanted to start up my own cult to reap the rewards of the sheeple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheeple).

Stylistically, CArlin was a big influence on Bill Maher, whose recent film “Religulous” is a good view

I’ve posted on Bill Maher and Religulous, but I still haven’t managed to catch it myself unfortunately!
